Councillor Proctor’s letter on the GEA and wind turbines in South Marysburgh

Less than a week after the South Marysburgh plebiscite in which 90% of voters rejected wind turbines in their ward, Councillor Barb Proctor sent a letter to Ministers Bentley (Energy) and Bradley (Environment).  Here are two excerpts from the letter:

“It is my opinion that The Green Energy Act has failed our community and our local government.

“I must support the majority of my constituents when I inform you that clearly, Large Scale Wind Development cannot be welcomed by the stated majority of residents in Ward 9, South Marysburgh, Prince Edward County.”

Barb’s letter, and her position as stated therein, will no doubt be much appreciated by almost all South Marysburgh residents.  You can read the letter in its entirety here .

  1. Good to see that Councillor Proctor is on board. Until now, she has seemed to be on the fence; neither an all-out promoter of the wind projects while at the same time voicing no real opposition. What a difference a vote makes. When I spoke to Ms. Proctor by telephone during the election campaign, she expressed an overall indifference but seemed to lean slightly in favour of the development. When I expressed my vehement objection to the Gilead project, her exact response was “I’m afraid there is nothing I can do for you.”
