Reminder — Fabulous Art Auction this Friday night at Karlo Estates Winery
P.O. Bird has been adopted as a mascot by CCSAGE because he’s hopping mad that a developer plans to put industrial wind turbines in an Important Bird Area! He is small but feisty but could still use some help from all of us in defending his home on the South Shore.
CCSAGE is hosting an art auction this Friday at Karlo Estates Winery (561 Danforth Road, north of Wellington) starting at 6:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception. Ticket price is $30 per person, $50 per couple, with the ticket price being credited against your art purchase. You will enjoy Karlo Estates wine and some tasty hors d’oeuvres as well as an evening’s entertainment and the opportunity to go home with a piece of local art. ALL proceeds from this event will go to CCSAGE to support its efforts to keep wind turbines out of the County.
“We are overwhelmed by the response from the arts community!” says organizer, Karen Empringham. “We put out a call for donations and now have 50 excellent works of art across all media and styles. There will be truly something for every taste.”
Here’s a link to version 2 of the catalogue, which shows 40 of the 50 art works contributed to date. See CCSAGE Art Auction — catalogue ver2c .
It would be hard to pick out a favourite piece because they are all so different and each has its own unique charm. One that really resonates with many is the “Minerva” print from Tammy Love’s original sketch. It is such an iconic County image. “Trellis in Wonderland” by Bruce Milan of Island Forge Studio is one piece that is also generating a lot of interest.
Sandra Goldie, curator for this event, is particularly excited by several pieces that she has received: “London 2011” by Daniel Hughes, “Reflections” by Jeanne Campbell, and “Little Summer Poppy” by Tanya Kirouac.
Don’t miss this opportunity to enjoy a fun evening out and support a great cause. P.O. Bird is counting on YOU! Reserve your tickets to ensure your seats (capacity 100) by contacting Karen Empringham – 613-476-4060 or firstname.lastname@example.org .
